Places to Visit
Our aim here is to pull together a collection of towns, villages and attractions that in our experience offer a good day out for you and for pup. Somewhere that combines a little browsing, walking and snacking, all in picturesque surroundings. The places on this site are ones we have personally visited and we have a back catalogue of places to add to the site, so please check back regularly for more pages and amends as we add to it over the coming months.
The pages are organised loosely by region, county etc, so simply use the drop down list and see the page titles under each area.
We hope you enjoy discovering these places as we much as we have.

Our Approach
To us our pups are part of the family and our days out have always included them. They enjoy the stimulation of new places and socialising with the other visitors and locals. We enjoy finding unique shops, eating great cakes and photographing the towns, villages and surrounding countryside. We want to make sure pup is happy and relaxed wherever she goes so we look for the following aspects and these form the headings of our reviews: |
Parking and Pooping
After a long car journey in the 'mobile kennel' we want to ensure pup has somewhere to stretch her legs and get comfortable before walking around town. She's a demure girl, so finding some secluded long grass away from prying eyes is her preference! Therefore we look for car parks near to fields or parks, or that have plentiful grass areas so she is set for some town browsing in comfort. It helps if there is a loo for us too! |
Walkies
Chows are not a long distance walkers by any means, so a casual stroll with lots of stopping off points and some benches to sit by is more suited to them. Therefore we like places that have wide pavements (Chows take up some room!) or pedestrian areas, not too much traffic, some shade and plenty of benches or places to perch for a rest and to soak up the tickles from passers-by. |
Keeping the Humans Amused
We like to browse the shops, take in the sights, take some photos and learn a little about the history, so places that have some or all of these are high on our list. Dog friendly shops and attractions are great and increasing in number, but we recognise that you may be travelling in a group and may not mind splitting dog minding duties so we have listed some key attractions even if they are not dog friendly too. |
Chow Time
On a day out, finding somewhere to eat to keep the energy up is all important. During the summer cafes with outdoor seating are the preferred option, but not so great on cold wintry days! We try to find and list a selection of cafes and pubs that welcome dogs inside as well as those with good outdoor seating so you have some options. |
